Biografie Rowling
J.K. (Joanne Kathleen) Rowling (1965) groeide op in Chepstow, Engeland. Na de middelbare school studeerde ze Frans en Klassieke Talen, werkte voor Amnesty International en gaf een aantal jaren les. Ze verhuisde naar Portugal om Engels te doceren, en ontmoette daar haar eerste echtgenoot. Het huwelijk hield echter geen stand en na de scheiding in 1993 verhuisde zij naar Edinburgh met haar pasgeboren dochter. Omdat ze in een kleine flat woonde, schreef ze in caf? Nicholson aan haar boek en wist Harry Potter en de Steen der Wijzen in zes maanden te voltooien.
